The University of Virginia (UVA) Department of Anesthesiology hosted the 2024 Southern University Department of Anesthesia Chairs Meeting on April 19-21, 2024 at Darden. There were 19 Department Chairs and 15 Chief Operating Officers from academic institutions across the southeastern United States. They gathered to collaborate on research, clinical, and educational missions and initiatives to lead their respective departments. The theme of this year’s meeting was “Leading Academic Anesthesia Departments in Challenging Times.”
This year’s conference featured 3 keynote speakers: Dr. Melina Kibbe, MD, Dean UVA School of Medicine, Dr. Brian Nosek, Executive Director UVA Center for Open Science, and Mr. William Crutchfield, CEO Crutchfield Corporation.
